Testimonials
Jen Whitehead
It was about Christmas time when I knew that I had to make some kind of change, but I didn’t know where to begin. Coincidentally, about the same time, I received an email from my trainer Steve VanZandt about the Breakthrough 2010 seminar coming up in January. I immediately went to the BB3 website to register.
The Breakthrough 2010 seminar was amazing! I listened to every word that Billy spoke, wrote down my goals, and then my obstacles that kept me from those goals, and then literally “broke through” the board with my hand! It was liberating to know that I had begun a new journey that was going to be life changing. I couldn’t wait to get started!
Then came the hard work. Beginning Monday, January 18, 2010, I went cold turkey and gave up caffeine, alcohol, dairy, wheat, pasta, and sugar. The first two weeks were extremely difficult. I learned the difference between eating healthy and eating “clean”. I learned how to eat more lean protein and vegetables with every meal and to eat more often. I learned to eat foods closest to their natural source and went from never cooking, to cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is so much truth in the phrase, “you are what you eat”!
The second half of the battle is how you train. Steve customized a weight and cardio workout for me that would shred fat and build muscle. I quickly noticed a change in my body and the combination of the training with the eating was beginning to have a positive effect on how I felt on the inside.
By the third week, my energy level was skyrocketing and my workouts were more challenging than ever. My cardio workouts also became more efficient as I learned that higher intensity for shorter bursts would do more good than running at a steady state for miles on end. I went from doing squats with 25 lbs on each side to doing squats with 55 lbs on each side. I began doing chest presses with 10 lb dumbbells and can now do chest presses with 35 lb dumbbells. I lost 8 lbs of fat and gained 3 lbs of lean muscle.
In summary, I needed help. I needed Steve and along with him, the knowledge and expertise of an amazing trainer who would hold me accountable for my actions. I needed the support from the entire staff at BB3 who treat their clients more like family members than clients. I needed my friend and workout partner, Lynn, who was with me in this every step of the way. I needed the support of my husband and daughters who encouraged me when I felt like giving in to temptation. I needed the 90-day Breakthrough Challenge to turn my knowledge into habit. I needed each of these things to reach the mental and physical changes that I made. I went into the challenge expecting to make a few changes in my diet and exercise routine, but what I never expected to get was a complete change in lifestyle! My body feels strong and my mind healthy and happy. The 90-day challenge may be over, but I feel this is merely the beginning.
I did the work, I became disciplined, and I feel absolutely amazing!
“I am living greatly!”
